Lock Rules Guide

This page explains how world locks work in plain language: what each tier covers, where you can place new locks, who can build inside a lock, and what happens when a lock goes inactive.

If you only need the short version: buy a tier, place it so it touches the existing claim graph correctly, and use sharing roles when other people need access.

Size And Base Cost

These are the current base sizes and prices before world multipliers are applied.

Sharing

Who Can Do What

Owners can share access with people and assign lower roles inside the lock.

Upgrades

Merge And Split

You can move between tiers by combining or breaking up lock grids.

Merge

10 x 10 Upward

Exactly 100 same-tier locks in a full 10 x 10 grid can merge into the next tier up.

Split

10 x 10 Downward

One lock can split into 100 lower-tier locks arranged in a 10 x 10 grid.

Limits

Tier Edges

Iron cannot split lower. Emerald cannot merge higher.

Auction

No Merge Or Split During Auction

If a lock is in an open auction, structural changes are blocked until the auction ends.

Auctions

What Happens After Inactivity

Inactive locks can enter an automatic auction flow.

  • A lock that goes unvisited for 256 real-life days can open an auction automatically.
  • Once opened, the auction lasts 3 days.
  • While the auction is open, normal gameplay writes inside that lock are disabled.
  • Only auction actions are still allowed during that period.
  • If the auction settles with a highest bidder, ownership transfers and permissions are cleared.

Value

How Estimates Work

  • Each tier starts from a base floor price.
  • Touching more nearby locks can raise the estimate.
  • Recent regional sale signals also influence the estimate.
  • Visiting a lock refreshes activity and can affect the value model.
